Join us as spring blooms! There is a lot of work that goes into the farm in the spring, and we’d love for you to join us for a work day.
All levels of experience and skill are welcome! There are lots of easy tasks that need doing by someone who cares. Lots of tasks that go 10x easier with 2 people than they do with me out there solo. Honestly, you can come out and do nothing but hang out and enjoy the fresh air.
Here are some of the things we might be doing:
Putting in Pea Supports
Weeding onions, or putting some compost on them.
Transplanting in a succession planting of lettuce.
Prepare a fall bed, with tilling and cover crop seeding.
Have you ever wondered what goes into organic onion weed control? Would you like to learn how I prep my bed that will grow fall crops? Are you curious about cover crops with vegetables? Come learn in an informal, hands on environment.
The farm is kid friendly. And even baby friendly to an extent. I don’t use chemicals or large equipment. But there are thorny plants, stinging insects and all the dangers inherent in the best outdoor experiences. Come, and bring your children, but bring work and play clothing and sprays to keep yourself comfortable. The weather can be unpredictable in April. To an extent, I’ll work in any weather. Practically though, heavy snowfall or rain will cancel the work day.
I expect pandemic rules to still be a part of our lives in April. Please bring masks, hand sanitizer and your own bowls/spoons for lunch.
